Over the course of the summer, several in the congregation have been participating in a summer study series on the subject of prayer. I am grateful for each one who has taken time out of their schedule to participate, and it is my hope and prayer that each one’s prayer life has been enriched in some way as a result of learning some new things. In my humble opinion, prayer is the most powerful tool we have in our spiritual toolbox. I sometimes wonder, however, if it is sorely underused. We may think…

To say that I am ageless
Implies that age does not matter
Or should not matter
Or I should hope and pray that it does not matter.
As if aging is to be feared or avoided.
To be ageless means someone
Have erased the markers of events, emotions and experiences
That have uniquely shaped me,
That have left their indelible residue inside and outside
Of this container of middle-aged magic.
Not that any of those things define me.
But they belong to me.
They belong to the stories in my hands
To the songs in my thighs
To the laughter in my belly<br…

.- The Archbishop of Washington, D.C. exhorted Supreme Court justices to “rejoice” in the Holy Spirit at the annual Red Mass on Sunday in D.C.

Current research has proven that deer can see some variations of color. Deer are dichromatic, and see mainly in blue-green and yellow hues. The reason deer have greater night vision than humans is because the anatomy of their eyes is different—they have more rods in their eyes than they have cones, and those rods are the main receptors of light in low-light situations. Thus, they have an enhanced ability to navigate a dark world.
Though we’re limited in our nighttime vision,…
Mixtures of religion and politics aren’t exactly unusual in Georgia, a state situated squarely in the heart of the Bible Belt, where asking someone where they go to church is a common icebreaker.
But this year, no one is combining faith—however broadly defined—and politics as acutely as Sarah Riggs Amico, 40, a newly announced Democratic candidate for US Senate, running to oppose incumbent Republican Sen. David Perdue.
Amico, who lost a 2018 campaign for lieutenant governor, launched her campaign in August with a video that made a direct appeal to religious…

“Our country could begin to unravel if an elected president is thrown out of office because of lies and the media,” said Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, in an interview on Wednesday (Oct. 2) with Religion News Service. “It could be a devastating thing. We’re in very dangerous territory. I would encourage all the politicians to look very…
